Goal
To facilitate Aboriginal community development by enabling knowledge exchange between Aboriginal communities, Aboriginal health services and policy makers, and the university sector.
Objectives
- Enhanced and coordinated community engagement in all Onemda activities
- Koori Health Connect – a program to support the development of health networks and leadership in Aboriginal health
- A strategic approach to knowledge exchange
- Consolidate and develop Onemda’s role in Indigenous tobacco control through support for the Centre for Excellence in Indigenous Tobacco Control
- Develop the capacity of Aboriginal community organisations in health information, research and evaluation
Research
Goal
To support and sustain a strength based local, national, and international research program driven by Aboriginal community priorities and leadership that contributes to long term improvements in Aboriginal Health

- A priority-driven research program
- A quality, thematically organised research program
- Developing the capacity of people in Aboriginal health research
- Developing the capacity of the Aboriginal primary health system in research processes
Teaching and Learning
Goal
To make a significant and high quality contribution to the development of the regional and national Aboriginal health workforce.
Objectives
The Aboriginal Health workforce will be developed through:
- Curriculum development and workforce reform programs in the health sciences
- Quality teaching and learning
- Mentoring of Indigenous students and professionals
- Development of pathways into the Aboriginal health workforce
